The University has grown through 5 name changes: The Academy of Idaho (1901-1915); Idaho Technical Institute (1915-1927); University of Idaho - Southern Branch (1927-1947); Idaho State College (1946-1963); Current Idaho State University (1963-Present)
The ISU soccer program was started in 1998. ISU has appeared in the College Cup (NCAA) tournament 4 times. ISU has been in the Big Sky Tournament Finals 5 times with the last in 2006 under coach Allison Gibson.
